Founded in 1989, the UPSTART Design Team, consisting of young Japanese designers, has been releasing lines of unique and cheerful clothes. One of their iconic lines, UP SMILE, features smiley motifs with tongues that can be pulled out to make funny faces. The team believes in making their customers happy, "we always try to make people smile because we believe they become happy when they smile”.
